Lancia, which won the Manufacturers' World Championship five years in a row from 1987, when the World Rally Championship (WRC) switched to Group A cars, to 1991, the Delta HF Integrale debuted, a significantly improved version of the Delta Integrale 16V. With the aim of a second WRC championship in 1992, Lancia won the fifth opening round of the Delta at its debut race in Monte Carlo. In the fifth round, the Rally Tour de Corse, Turmax specialists Didier Auriol and Bernard Osselli in car number 3 maintained a high pace throughout the race and demonstrated incredible strength by setting the fastest time in 18 of the 23 special stages (SSs), securing their fourth Tour de Corse victory in five years. Lancia continued to keep its rivals at bay, achieving a double victory at the Rally of 1000 Lakes and winning the 1992 Manufacturers' World Championship, marking their sixth consecutive victory.
