Setup, Compatibility & Care Instructions
Setup:
- Prepare the Base: Ensure a firm, stable foundation. This typically involves excavating the area, laying a sub-base of compacted hardcore, and then a layer of mortar or sharp sand bedding.
- Lay the Slabs: Place the slabs onto the prepared base, tapping gently to set them. Due to the riven surface, slight adjustments may be needed to ensure a good fit and level finish, often using a rubber mallet.
- Jointing: Once laid and set, the joints between the slabs can be filled with a suitable jointing compound or mortar.
Compatibility:
These paving slabs are compatible with most standard landscaping materials and garden features. They are best suited for traditional or naturalistic garden styles. Avoid use in areas subject to heavy vehicular traffic unless specifically reinforced.
Care:
- Regular Cleaning: Sweep away loose debris regularly. Clean with water and a stiff brush. For tougher stains, use a mild patio cleaner and rinse thoroughly.
- Stain Prevention: Sealant can be applied to help prevent staining from oils or grease, although this may alter the natural appearance slightly.
- Weed Control: Keep joints clear to prevent weed growth.
- Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use acid-based cleaners, as they can damage the stone.
