Setup, Compatibility & Care
For the best results, plant the bulbs in autumn in a sunny spot with well-draining soil. Dig a hole approximately 10-15cm deep, place the bulb with the pointed end facing upward, and cover with soil. Space bulbs about 8-10cm apart to allow for proper air circulation.
If your soil is heavy or clay-based, incorporate grit or sharp sand into the planting hole to improve drainage. Once established, these bulbs require very little maintenance. You can leave them in the ground year-round as they are fully hardy. Avoid overwatering during their winter dormancy to prevent the bulbs from decaying. After flowering, allow the foliage to yellow and die back naturally before clearing, as this allows the bulb to store energy for the following season's growth.
