Setup, Compatibility & Care
Compatibility:
Before purchasing, always verify that the NGK IZFR6B (3116) spark plug is the correct specification for your vehicle's engine. Consult your vehicle's owner's manual or a reputable parts database for the recommended spark plug type. Ensure the thread size, reach, heat range, and electrode gap match the manufacturer's specifications.
Setup:
- Ensure the engine is cool before beginning.
- Disconnect the spark plug wire or coil pack from the existing spark plug.
- Using the correct size socket wrench (16mm spanner size recommended), carefully unscrew and remove the old spark plug.
- Hand-thread the new NGK IZFR6B spark plug into the cylinder head until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.
- Use a torque wrench to tighten the spark plug to the manufacturer's specified torque setting. Over-tightening can damage the cylinder head or spark plug.
- Reconnect the spark plug wire or coil pack securely.
- Repeat for all remaining cylinders.
Care:
Spark plugs are generally considered a maintenance item and are not designed for user servicing beyond replacement. Once installed, they require no specific care. However, regular checks of the ignition system, including spark plug wires and coil packs, are recommended as part of routine vehicle maintenance.
