The Milk Thistle, known for its medicinal properties, has a history rooted in legend and traditional medicine. Its active ingredients are used in modern medicine for liver detoxification. The plant grows up to 100 cm tall, displaying spherical, purple flowers from June to September. Cultivation involves planting seeds in a greenhouse or outdoors, with a germination period of two to three weeks, and it thrives in sunny locations. Harvesting involves wearing gloves to protect hands from the thorns, and the seeds can be stored in linen bags in a cool, dark place. The Milk Thistle can tolerate light frost and it may need to be potted during winter.
