FAQs

Can this be used with both round and square downpipes?

Yes, it is compatible with 68mm round downpipes and 65mm square downpipes.

Does the kit include everything I need to install it?

Yes, the kit comes with the butt, lid, raised stand, tap, and the necessary rainwater diverter kit.

What are the total dimensions including the stand?

The total dimensions are approximately 58 x 58 x 105 cm.

Is the material resistant to fading?

Yes, the polyethylene is UV-stabilised to withstand years of sun exposure without significant colour degradation.

How do I prevent the water from freezing in winter?

It is best to disconnect the diverter and empty the butt entirely before the first hard frost of the season.

Troubleshooting

Water is not flowing into the butt

Check that the diverter is properly aligned with the downpipe and that the connecting hose is not kinked or clogged with debris.

The unit feels unstable

Ensure the stand is placed on a completely flat and solid base, such as paving slabs, rather than uneven soil or gravel.

Tap is leaking

Verify the tap is threaded tightly into the port. Use plumbers tape if necessary to create a better seal against the polyethylene body.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Durable, UV-stabilised construction ensures longevity in outdoor environments
Aesthetically pleasing woodgrain texture blends naturally into garden landscapes
Includes all necessary components for immediate installation
Raised stand design simplifies the process of filling watering cans
Compatibility with standard round and square downpipes

Cons

Requires a level base for stability when filled to capacity
Fixed dimensions may not fit in extremely narrow garden alleyways
Requires manual connection to existing downpipe system

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Installation is straightforward but requires access to a standard downpipe. The unit is compatible with 68mm round or 65mm square downpipes.

Select a firm, level surface close to your downpipe.
Assemble the stand and place the water butt on top.
Install the rainwater diverter into your downpipe according to the manufacturer's manual height requirements.
Connect the provided hose from the diverter to the inlet on the water butt.

For maintenance, rinse the interior once a year to remove silt accumulation. During winter months, it is recommended to keep the tap open or ensure the system is drained if you live in an area prone to hard freezes to prevent ice expansion damage.
