The Marigold 'Single Legion of Honour' is a classic, heirloom French Marigold perfect for gardeners looking for a reliable, low-maintenance border filler that provides continuous summer color. This vibrant variety offers golden-yellow flowers with striking dark brown markings, making it an excellent choice for both ornamental beds and culinary use in salads or seafood dishes. While it is highly robust and requires minimal dead-heading, growers must ensure the seedlings are fully protected from frost before moving them to their final outdoor location.

Yes, they have a distinct citrus flavor and are commonly used in salads, sandwiches, and seafood dishes.
Sow your seeds indoors between March and April for the best results.
While it can tidy up the appearance, this variety is known for needing only a minimum of dead-heading to keep flowering.
They thrive best when planted in a position that receives full sun.
When fully established, they typically reach up to 30cm in both height and spread.
No, they should be started indoors or in a propagator and only moved outside once all risk of frost has passed.
Ensure the temperature remains consistent between 21-25C and verify that the seeds are not covered too deeply, as they require light to germinate.
This often indicates a lack of sufficient light; ensure the tray is in a bright location immediately after germination occurs.
Ensure the plants have been properly hardened off or 'acclimatized' to outdoor conditions before final planting to reduce transplant shock.
To begin, sow seeds between March and April in moist, lightly firmed seed compost. Place the containers in a warm area with temperatures between 21-25C. Use a propagator or a sealed plastic bag to maintain humidity, but do not exclude light, as these seeds require it for successful germination.
Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into individual 7.5cm pots. Before moving them outdoors, it is critical to gradually acclimatize them to cooler temperatures. Only plant them in their final position once the risk of frost has completely passed, spacing each plant 30cm apart in a location that receives full sun.
