Product Information

Full details

The Kenable 006502 is a 5-meter RG-59/U coaxial cable designed for extending existing RF male cables or connecting to RF male outlets, commonly found in TV aerial setups. It offers a reliable signal with gold-plated connectors and 75 Ohm impedance, making it ideal for consistent TV reception. A key caveat is its specific RF push-fit connector type, which is not universally compatible with all coaxial connections.

FAQs

What type of connector does this cable use?

This cable uses standard RF push-fit male and female connectors, commonly used for terrestrial TV aerial connections.

Can I use this cable for satellite TV?

No, this cable is designed for terrestrial TV aerials and uses RF push-fit connectors. Satellite TV typically requires F-type connectors.

What is the impedance of this cable?

The cable has an impedance of 75 Ohms, which is standard for TV aerial systems.

What is the maximum signal loss I can expect?

The gold-plated connectors and 75 Ohm RG-59/U coaxial cable are designed to minimize signal loss for typical aerial signal strengths over a 5-meter length.

How do I connect the cable?

Simply push the RF male connector into the female socket and the RF female connector onto the male plug. Ensure a secure fit on both ends.

Can I use this to extend a cable with a different type of connector?

No, this cable requires both ends to be compatible with RF male and female push-fit connectors. It is designed for extending existing RF connections of the same type.

Troubleshooting

No signal or poor picture quality

Ensure both the male and female RF connectors are fully and securely pushed into their respective sockets. Check that the cable is not damaged or kinked. Verify that the cable is connected to the correct aerial input on your TV and that your TV is tuned to the correct channels.

Cable does not fit

Confirm that your existing connection points use the RF push-fit type connector. This cable is not compatible with F-type connectors commonly used for satellite and some cable TV services.

Intermittent signal loss

Inspect the gold-plated connectors for any signs of corrosion or damage. Ensure the cable is not being sharply bent or excessively pulled, which can disrupt the internal connection.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Extends existing RF male cables easily.
  • Gold-plated connectors ensure good signal quality.
  • Standard 75 Ohm impedance for TV aerials.
  • Simple push-fit connection for quick setup.
  • Durable RG-59/U cable construction.

Cons

  • Specific RF push-fit connector may not fit all sockets.
  • Primarily designed for TV aerial connections, may not suit other RF applications.
  • 5-meter length might be too long or too short for some specific installations.
  • Not suitable for digital satellite or cable TV connections requiring F-type connectors.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup:

  1. Identify the RF male output from your existing cable or wall faceplate.
  2. Identify the RF female input on your receiving device (e.g., TV) or the RF male input of an extension.
  3. Push the RF male connector of the Kenable 006502 cable firmly into the corresponding female RF socket until it is securely seated.
  4. Push the RF female connector of the cable firmly onto the corresponding male RF plug until it clicks or feels secure.

Compatibility:

  • Primary Use: TV aerial (terrestrial) connections.
  • Connector Type: RF push-fit. This is common for older TV aerial installations but is distinct from F-type connectors used for satellite and cable TV.
  • Ensure: Both ends of your connection require RF male and female push-fit connectors respectively.

Care:

  • Avoid sharp bends or kinks in the cable, as this can damage the internal conductors and shielding.
  • Keep connectors clean and free from dust and debris. A dry, lint-free cloth is sufficient for cleaning.
  • Protect the cable from extreme temperatures, moisture, and direct sunlight to prolong its lifespan.
