Product Information

Full details

The Trespass Hemic Softshell Trousers are designed for adult outdoor enthusiasts who need reliable protection during hiking and trekking in unpredictable weather. These trousers offer a significant benefit through their Tres-tex water-resistant fabric and articulated design, allowing for both moisture protection and unrestricted movement on uneven terrain. A notable caveat is that while they are water-resistant up to 2000mm, they are not intended for extreme, prolonged downpours, so users should pair them with dedicated waterproof overtrousers if expecting severe storms.

FAQs

Are these trousers waterproof?

They are water-resistant up to 2000mm. They are effective against light rain and spray, but are not rated as fully waterproof for heavy downpours.

Can I wear these for skiing?

While they offer some protection, they lack the high-level insulation and waterproof ratings required for skiing. They are best suited for hiking and trekking.

What is the material composition?

These trousers are primarily made from a durable polyester blend.

Do they have pockets for valuables?

Yes, they feature four zip pockets, allowing you to secure items like keys, wallets, or smartphones.

Are the knees reinforced?

They feature articulated knee darts to improve range of motion rather than heavy-duty reinforcement patches.

Troubleshooting

Water is soaking into the fabric instead of beading off.

The DWR coating has likely worn off. Wash the trousers and apply a standard DWR re-proofer spray.

Trousers feel restrictive during movement.

Check the side waist adjusters to ensure they aren't pulled too tight, and ensure you are wearing the correct size for your base layers.

Pros and Cons

Pros

High level of breathability for active pursuits
Water-resistant fabric handles light rain and damp conditions
Articulated knees provide excellent freedom of movement
Ample storage with four secure zip pockets
Adjustable waist offers a comfortable, personalized fit

Cons

Not fully waterproof for heavy or sustained rainfall
Limited to one grey color option
May require additional insulation underneath for very cold winter conditions

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure the longevity of your Hemic trousers, follow these care guidelines:

Washing: Use a cool machine wash with a mild detergent designed for technical outerwear. Avoid using fabric softeners as they can strip the water-resistant treatment.
Drying: Air dry the trousers away from direct heat sources to prevent damage to the synthetic fabric.
Re-treating: If you notice water no longer beads off the surface, use a specialized DWR (Durable Water Repellent) spray to restore the water-resistant properties.
Compatibility: These trousers pair well with thermal base layers during colder months due to their standard fit, and fit comfortably over most hiking boots.
