FAQs

What is the maximum weight capacity of the Avid Digital Scales?

The Avid Digital Scales have a maximum capacity of 60kg or 132lb.

How precise are the weight measurements?

The scales measure in increments of 1oz.

How do I change the unit of measurement?

There is a dedicated button on the scales that allows you to easily switch between pounds (lb) and kilograms (kg).

Can I use these scales in the rain?

Yes, the screen is protected by a reinforced sealed cover designed to prevent water ingress and damage, making them suitable for use in wet conditions.

What type of battery do these scales use?

The Avid Digital Scales use one 9v battery.

Is a weigh sling included with the scales?

No, a weigh sling is not included. The scales feature a zero button for accurate use with your own weigh sling.

How do I ensure an accurate reading when using a weigh sling?

Attach your wet weigh sling to the hook, press the 'Zero' (0.00) button to reset the reading, and then attach your fish to the sling. The displayed weight will then be only the fish's weight.

Are the scales waterproof?

While the screen is protected from water ingress, the entire unit is not fully submersible. Clean with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly after use in wet conditions.

Troubleshooting

Scales will not turn on.

Ensure a fresh 9v battery is correctly installed. Check the battery contacts for any corrosion and clean if necessary. If the issue persists, the battery may need replacing.

Inaccurate weight readings.

Ensure the scales are on a stable, level surface or are hanging vertically without obstruction. Check that the 'Zero' function has been used correctly if using a weigh sling. Ensure the unit of measurement (lb/kg) is set as desired.

Screen is difficult to read.

The screen is back-lit; ensure the unit is powered on. Check that the protective screen cover is clean and free from moisture or debris. Replace the 9v battery if low power is indicated.

Buttons are unresponsive.

Ensure your hands are dry when operating the buttons. If the buttons appear stuck or dirty, gently clean around them with a slightly damp cloth and allow to dry completely.
