Designed for cake decorators, professional bakers, and hobbyists, the Simply Making 5-inch round cake dummy is an essential tool for creating professional, crisp-edged display cakes without the need for real sponge. This high-density polystyrene form allows for precise fondant application and versatile decoration, though it is intended for display and practice purposes rather than consumption.

No, this product is made of EPS 100 polystyrene (foam) and is intended for display or practice use only.
Absolutely not. Polystyrene foam will melt and release toxic fumes when exposed to oven temperatures.
Use a small amount of double-sided tape or a dot of royal icing to anchor the base of the dummy to your cake board.
Yes, it is durable enough to be cleaned and reused for multiple projects.
Yes, the EPS 100 density is specifically chosen to be easy to carve using a standard serrated kitchen knife.
This model has a diameter of 5 inches.
Ensure the dummy surface is clean of dust and apply a very thin layer of piping gel or dampen the foam slightly to improve adhesion.
Gently smooth the foam using a fine-grit sandpaper or a warm, damp cloth to reform the compressed edges.
Use a sharp, clean serrated knife and move in a slow sawing motion; do not apply heavy downward pressure to avoid crushing the foam structure.
To prepare the dummy for use, ensure the surface is clean and dry. If you are applying buttercream or royal icing, the high-density surface provides excellent grip. When applying fondant, you may lightly dampen the surface with water or a thin layer of piping gel to help the icing adhere securely. For cleaning, simply wipe down with a damp cloth; if the dummy is heavily soiled, rinse under cool water and allow it to air dry completely before the next use. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct heat sources to prevent the polystyrene from warping or melting.
