Setup, Compatibility & Care
Preparation is Key: Before applying SteelStik, ensure the repair area is clean, dry, and free from grease, oil, or rust. Sanding the surface slightly can improve adhesion.
Application: Cut off the required amount of putty. Knead the two parts together by hand until a uniform grey color is achieved. This indicates the resin and hardener are fully mixed. Apply the mixed putty immediately to the prepared surface, pressing firmly to ensure good contact.
Curing: SteelStik has a 5-minute set time, during which the material will begin to harden. Full cure is typically achieved within 1 hour, but strength continues to develop over 24 hours. Avoid stressing the repaired area during the initial curing period.
Machining: Once fully cured, SteelStik can be drilled, tapped, sanded, filed, and painted. Use standard hand or power tools for these operations.
Care: Store unused putty sticks in their original packaging in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Ensure the packaging is sealed to prevent premature hardening.
Compatibility: SteelStik is designed for bonding and repairing various metals, including steel, iron, aluminum, brass, and copper. It is not recommended for use on plastics or certain flexible materials.
