Full details
Unwins Alpine Dianthus Arctic Fire Seeds produce masses of long-lasting white flowers with a bright pink centre. Ideal for containers and rockeries, this small alpine plant provides good ground cover and is good for small spaces. You can also plant this hardy perennial in pots and containers. Perfect for pots and containers. Hardy perennial. Sow: March to June / August to September. Flowering: June to September. Sow on the surface of pre-watered seed compost in pots or trays, lightly pressing the seeds into the surface. Place in a propagator or loosely covered bag at around 20 °C and allow 2–4 weeks for germination. Once germinated, remove the cover and keep in cooler conditions. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle. Grow on in a sheltered spot outdoors, such as a cold frame or unheated greenhouse. Plant out in full sun in well-drained soil. Also suitable for containers, raised beds, or rockeries. Remove faded flowers throughout summer to prolong blooming and any dead foliage in spring. Add grit to improve drainage where necessary. Late summer sowings will flower earlier and more profusely the following year.
