FAQs
Is this a toy or a professional-grade compass?
This is a functional educational tool designed for children; while it provides accurate basic navigation, it should not be used as a primary safety device for remote wilderness trekking.
Can the carabiner really hold 10kg?
Yes, the carabiner is load-tested to support up to 10kg of gear, such as water bottles or light camping equipment.
What is the compass housing made of?
The housing is crafted from sustainable materials, specifically bamboo and plant-based plastic derived from sugarcane.
Is it safe for toddlers?
No, it is not suitable for children under three years old due to small parts and the risk associated with the cord length of the wrist strap.
How do I use the mirror on the back?
The mirror is designed for reflecting light for signaling purposes, which can be a fun activity to teach children about light and communication in nature.
Should I wear the compass around my neck?
The kit includes a wrist strap for carrying; it is recommended to keep it on the wrist to ensure the child does not accidentally tangle the cord.
Troubleshooting
Compass needle is not pointing North.
Ensure you are away from large metal objects, electronic devices, or magnets which can cause local interference with the magnetic needle.
Carabiner gate feels sticky.
Check for dirt or grit in the hinge and wipe clean with a damp cloth; do not use heavy lubricants that might attract more dust.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
There is no complex assembly required for this kit; it is ready to use immediately out of the package. To maintain the longevity of the compass, store it away from strong magnetic fields that could interfere with the needle's accuracy. After outdoor use, wipe down the compass and carabiner with a damp cloth to remove dirt or moisture, especially if used in muddy conditions. Ensure the carabiner spring-gate moves freely and is not obstructed by debris. Store the kit in a cool, dry place when not in use to protect the bamboo and plastic components from extreme weather exposure.
