The Dare 2b Shredder II Ski Jacket is a high-performance winter garment designed for active children who need reliable protection during long days on the slopes. Featuring advanced ARED 35/35K fabric, this jacket offers a superior balance of waterproof protection and breathability, ensuring comfort in varied weather conditions. FAQs

What does 35/35K mean?

This refers to the waterproof and breathability ratings of the ARED fabric, indicating high-level protection against water entry while allowing moisture vapor to escape.

Is this jacket suitable for school wear?

Yes, its durable polyester construction and waterproof features make it an excellent choice for daily winter use, not just for skiing.

How should I choose the right size?

The sizes are grouped by age range. Check the specific MPN measurements or refer to a standard Dare 2b size chart to ensure a proper fit over layers.

Does it have a hood?

Yes, the jacket includes a hood designed to provide additional protection against wind and snow.

Can I iron this jacket?

It is generally not recommended to iron ski jackets as high heat can damage the waterproof membrane and synthetic insulation.

Troubleshooting

Water appears to be soaking into the outer fabric

The DWR coating has likely worn off. Wash the jacket and apply a DWR re-proofer spray, then tumble dry on low heat to reactivate the finish.

The child feels damp inside the jacket

Ensure they are wearing moisture-wicking base layers rather than cotton, which holds onto perspiration.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Exceptional 35/35K waterproof and breathability rating
Fully taped seams for maximum moisture protection
Durable polyester construction suitable for rugged play
Effective insulation for cold mountain environments

Cons

May require extra layers for extreme cold
Limited to specific pink colourway for this variant
Requires proper care to maintain the DWR coating

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure the longevity of the Dare 2b Shredder II, follow these maintenance guidelines:

Washing: Machine wash on a gentle cycle at 30°C using a mild detergent. Avoid fabric softeners as they degrade the waterproof coating.
Drying: Air dry whenever possible. If machine drying is necessary, use a low heat setting.
Re-treating: Over time, the DWR finish may wear off. Use a specialized technical garment spray to restore water repellency after several washes.
Storage: Store the jacket on a hanger in a cool, dry place to maintain the loft of the internal insulation.
