Setup, Compatibility & Care
Starting Seeds: Sow seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost date. Use a seed-starting mix and keep them consistently moist and warm (around 70-80°F or 21-27°C). Once seedlings have a few true leaves and the risk of frost has passed, transplant them into their final containers or garden beds.
Planting: Choose a location that receives at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily. Ensure pots have good drainage. Space plants about 18-24 inches apart if planting in the ground.
Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, but avoid waterlogging. Water at the base of the plant to prevent fungal diseases.
Feeding: Use a balanced fertilizer throughout the growing season, especially when flowers begin to appear. A fertilizer slightly higher in phosphorus can encourage fruiting.
Support: As the plants grow and develop fruit, they may benefit from staking or support cages, especially in windy locations or when heavily laden.
Compatibility: These seeds are compatible with standard gardening practices and can be grown alongside many common vegetable plants. They are particularly suited for companion planting in raised beds or containers.
