FAQs

What is the lifespan of the Osram Dulux DE lamp?

The Osram Dulux DE lamp has an improved average lifespan of up to 20,000 hours.

What type of base does this lamp have?

This lamp features a single-ended four-pin plug-in G24q-1 base.

Can this lamp be used in any light fixture?

No, it requires a fixture specifically designed for G24q-1 base lamps and compatible with electronic control gear. It is not suitable for standard screw-in sockets.

What does 'CRI 80-89' mean?

CRI stands for Color Rendering Index. A CRI of 80-89 means that the colors of objects illuminated by this lamp will appear relatively natural and vibrant, similar to how they would look under daylight.

Is this lamp suitable for outdoor use?

This lamp is intended for indoor use. Outdoor fixtures would require specific environmental protection and may not be compatible with the electronic control gear.

How do I dim this light?

To dim the light, the lamp must be installed in a fixture with a dimmable electronic ballast and connected to a compatible dimmer switch. The lamp itself is dimmable from 100% to 3% when used with the correct setup.

What is the color temperature of this lamp?

The color temperature is 3000 K, which is classified as warm white light.

Troubleshooting

Lamp does not turn on

Check if the lamp is securely seated in the G24q-1 socket. Verify that the fixture has power and that the electronic control gear is functioning correctly. Ensure compatibility with the ballast.

Lamp flickers or strobes

This may indicate an incompatible or failing electronic control gear. Consult the fixture manufacturer or an electrician to ensure the ballast is suitable for this lamp type and is working properly.

Dimming function not working

Confirm that the fixture is equipped with a dimmable electronic ballast and a compatible dimmer switch. Check all wiring connections for the dimmer system.

Reduced brightness over time

While rated for 20,000 hours, brightness will gradually decrease. If the reduction is significant and premature, check for compatibility issues with the control gear or potential power supply fluctuations.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Significantly longer lifespan than traditional incandescent bulbs.
  • Provides natural-looking colors due to good CRI.
  • Adjustable light output for versatile use.
  • Designed for efficient operation with modern electronic ballasts.

Cons

  • Requires a specific G24q-1 socket, limiting compatibility with older fixtures.
  • Requires electronic control gear; not compatible with magnetic ballasts.
  • Contains mercury, requiring proper disposal procedures.
  • Older energy efficiency rating (A) may not be as efficient as newer LED alternatives.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup:

  1. Ensure the power is switched off at the mains.
  2. Remove the old bulb by gently pulling it out of the G24q-1 socket.
  3. Align the four pins of the Osram Dulux DE lamp with the G24q-1 socket.
  4. Push the lamp firmly into the socket until it is securely seated.
  5. Restore power to the fixture.

Compatibility:

  • Base Type: Requires a G24q-1 socket.
  • Control Gear: Must be operated with compatible electronic control gear (ECG) or electronic ballasts.
  • Dimming: If dimming is desired, the fixture must be equipped with a compatible dimmable electronic ballast and a suitable dimmer switch.

Care:

  • Cleaning: Always ensure the lamp is cool and the power is off before cleaning. Wipe gently with a dry or slightly damp, lint-free cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Disposal: This product contains mercury. It must be disposed of according to local regulations for electronic waste or hazardous materials. Do not dispose of in household trash.
