FAQs

Can I use this for high-wattage appliances?

The organiser is a shell meant for cable management; as long as your power strip is rated for the appliance, the organiser itself does not impact electrical load.

Does this box have ventilation?

The design includes side cable ports which allow for basic airflow, though it is not intended for high-heat industrial equipment.

Is the steel finish prone to fingerprints?

The matte grey finish is generally resistant, but a quick wipe with a microfiber cloth will remove any visible marks.

Will this fit an extra-long surge protector?

If your surge protector exceeds 32cm in length, it will not fit within the footprint of this organiser.

Can I stack items on top of the organiser?

The steel construction is sturdy, but it is recommended to keep items on top light, such as a small desk plant or stationery, to maintain stability.

Troubleshooting

The organiser lid does not close fully

Ensure that the cables exiting the side ports are not bunched up against the edge of the lid, preventing it from seating correctly.

The unit slides on smooth surfaces

Check that the non-slip feet are clean and free of dust, which can accumulate and reduce their grip; wipe with a damp cloth and allow to dry.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Durable steel build provides a premium feel and structural integrity
Effective at reducing dust buildup on sensitive electronics
Neutral grey finish blends seamlessly with modern office and home decor
Spacious enough to house standard joint taps and extension leads

Cons

Fixed dimensions may be restrictive for oversized surge protectors
The metal construction is slightly heavier than plastic alternatives
Lacks internal cable management hooks or ties

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To set up your MUJI Steel Cable Organiser, simply place your extension lead or joint tap inside the box, ensuring the main power cord exits through one of the side ports. Arrange your device plugs within the box before closing the lid.

Compatibility: This unit is compatible with most standard residential and office power strips that do not exceed 32cm in length or 10cm in width.

Care Instructions: Keep the steel surface looking new by wiping it down with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive scouring pads, as these may scratch the grey finish. Since the unit is made of steel, ensure it is kept in a dry environment to prevent any risk of moisture-related damage to your electrical components.
