Setup, Compatibility & Care
Preparation:
Before filling, ensure the crack or hole is clear of loose material and dust. For hairline cracks, slightly enlarge them to improve filler penetration. If the surface is absorbent, such as new plaster, dampen it lightly with water.
Mixing:
Add approximately 2.5 parts of filler powder to 1 part of cold water in a clean container. Mix to a stiff paste. For deeper repairs, use a slightly thicker mix. Only mix the amount you can use within 40 minutes, as the filler will begin to harden.
Application:
Apply the mixed filler using a trowel or filling knife, pressing it firmly into the area to be filled. Apply slightly proud of the surface to allow for sanding. Do not apply externally if rain is imminent.
Finishing:
Once the filler has dried completely (it dries white), rub down the area with fine-grit sandpaper until smooth and flush with the surrounding surface. The filler is ready to be painted or wallpapered over without priming.
Exterior Use:
If used outdoors, the filled area must be protected from rain and water during the setting process. Once dry, seal the repaired area with an oil-based paint or varnish to protect it from weathering.
Care:
Keep the powder filler in a dry place. Clean tools immediately after use with water.
