Setup, Compatibility & Care
Sowing Instructions: Seeds can be sown directly outdoors once the danger of frost has passed in early spring or started indoors in individual pots to get a head start on the season.
Location: Choose a spot in full sun, as sunflowers require significant light to develop their pigment and strength.
Soil & Water: Ensure the soil is well-drained. While they enjoy moisture, avoid waterlogged ground which can damage the roots. Apply a balanced liquid fertilizer during the growing season to support the high volume of blooms.
Maintenance: Regular dead-heading is essential. Pinch off spent flowers at the base of the stem to redirect the plant's energy into producing new buds rather than setting seeds.
