FAQs

What is the recommended working pressure?

The Mehr ALG3 operates best at 43-50 PSI.

Can I use this gun with the 3M PPS system?

Yes, it is compatible using 3M adaptor number 2 (3M code 16032).

What size needle does this gun come with?

It comes with a standard 1.3 mm setup, which is ideal for topcoats.

How much air does this spray gun consume?

It consumes between 7-10 CFM depending on the specific spray setup.

Is this spray gun suitable for heavy primers?

The 1.3 mm nozzle is optimized for topcoats; it may be too small for high-viscosity heavy primers.

Troubleshooting

Spray pattern is uneven or split

Check the air cap for dried paint or debris. Clean thoroughly with a soft brush and solvent.

Excessive overspray

Verify the inlet pressure is within the 43-50 PSI range; excessive pressure often leads to increased bounce-back.

Inconsistent material flow

Ensure the air vent on the 600 cc pot is not blocked and check the fluid needle for potential obstructions.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Superior finish quality ideal for topcoats
  • Ergonomic handle reduces hand strain
  • Compatible with industry-standard 3M disposable pot systems
  • High transfer efficiency reduces wasted material

Cons

  • Requires a compressor capable of 7-10 CFM
  • Not suitable for heavy-duty primers that require larger fluid tips
  • Needs dedicated air filtration to prevent moisture interference

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Proper setup is essential for longevity:

  1. Air Supply: Connect the tool to an air source providing at least 7-10 CFM. Ensure your airline has a moisture separator.
  2. Calibration: Perform a test spray on a piece of cardboard to adjust the fluid needle and fan pattern before starting your project.
  3. Cleaning: After use, flush the system with appropriate solvent. Disassemble the needle and nozzle periodically for a deep clean to prevent paint buildup.
  4. Storage: Always store the gun in a clean, dry environment to prevent corrosion of internal components.
