Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Your VonHaus F clamps require minimal setup. Simply remove them from the packaging. Ensure all plastic protector pads are securely attached before first use.
Compatibility
These clamps are highly versatile and compatible with a wide range of materials and projects, including:
- Materials: Wood, metal (for clamping, not as a direct heat shield), plastics, composites, and more.
- Applications: Woodworking, joinery, cabinet making, frame assembly, light welding, general repair, and DIY projects.
Care and Maintenance
Proper care will extend the life and performance of your F clamps:
- Cleaning: After each use, wipe down the steel bar and jaws with a dry or slightly damp cloth to remove dust, glue residue, and debris. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
- Rust Prevention: While the clamps are rust-resistant, prolonged exposure to moisture can still lead to corrosion. Store clamps in a dry environment. If they get wet, dry them thoroughly before storage.
- Mechanism Maintenance: Periodically inspect the quick-slide mechanism. If it feels stiff, clean any accumulated dust or grime. A small amount of dry lubricant (e.g., silicone spray, not oil-based lubricants that attract dust) can be applied sparingly to the sliding parts, avoiding the clamping surfaces.
- Protector Pads: Check the plastic protector pads regularly for wear or damage. Replace them if they are heavily worn to continue protecting your workpieces effectively. (Info needed: Availability of replacement pads from VonHaus.)
- Storage: Store clamps neatly to prevent tangling and damage. A clamp rack or designated drawer can help keep them organized and easily accessible.
