Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setting up the Gigabyte AORUS GeForce RTX 5090 XTREME WATERFORCE WB requires careful planning and execution, as it is designed for integration into a custom liquid cooling loop.
Setup Instructions
- Plan Your Loop: Before installation, design your custom liquid cooling loop, considering radiator placement, pump/reservoir location, and tubing runs. Ensure you have all necessary components: pump, reservoir, radiator(s), fittings, tubing, and coolant.
- Prepare the Card: Inspect the water block for any debris. The card comes with the water block pre-installed, so no disassembly of the GPU cooler is needed.
- Install the Card: Secure the graphics card into the primary PCIe x16 slot on your motherboard.
- Connect to Loop: Connect your chosen G1/4" fittings to the water block's ports. Carefully plan tubing runs to and from the radiator, pump, and reservoir. Ensure all fittings are securely tightened (do not overtighten).
- Fill and Leak Test: Fill your custom loop with appropriate liquid cooling coolant. *Crucially, perform a thorough leak test (preferably with a dedicated leak tester or by running the pump without powering the rest of your PC).* Allow several hours (12-24) for a leak test to ensure no leaks are present before powering on your full system.
- Power Connections: Connect all required PCIe power cables from your power supply to the graphics card. This card typically requires multiple 8-pin or 12VHPWR connectors. Refer to the manual for exact requirements.
- Software Installation: Once the system is running, install the latest NVIDIA drivers and GIGABYTE/AORUS control software for RGB customization and monitoring.
Compatibility Considerations
- Motherboard: Ensure your motherboard has an available PCIe x16 slot that can support the card's physical size and power requirements.
- Power Supply (PSU): A high-wattage PSU is essential. Info needed: [Specific PSU wattage recommendation] is recommended to stably power the RTX 5090 and the additional liquid cooling components (pump, fans).
- PC Case: Your case must have sufficient space for the graphics card, as well as mounting points and clearance for your chosen radiator(s) and reservoir.
- Cooling Components: Use high-quality, compatible liquid cooling components (fittings, tubing, coolant) that are designed for custom PC loops.
Care & Maintenance
- Regular Cleaning: Dust accumulation on radiators can impede cooling performance. Periodically clean radiators and case fans.
- Coolant Maintenance: Depending on your coolant type, it should be flushed and replaced every 6-12 months to prevent buildup and maintain optimal thermal performance. Always use coolants designed for PC liquid cooling.
- Leak Prevention: Regularly inspect your loop for any signs of leaks or wear on tubing and fittings. The patented leak detection system offers an alert, but visual inspection is still important.
- Software Updates: Keep your graphics drivers and GIGABYTE/AORUS control software updated for optimal performance and stability.
