Troubleshooting

Weeds are still growing through the mulch.

Ensure the mulch layer is at least 1 inch thick. Reapply mulch in areas where weeds are breaking through. Check for any gaps in coverage.

The mulch is breaking down too quickly.

This is normal, as the organic material decomposes. Reapply mulch as needed to maintain the desired thickness and nutrient supply.

The mulch is attracting slugs.

While it acts as a repellent, it may still attract some slugs. Consider using additional slug control measures if necessary.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • 100% organic and peat-free, making it an eco-friendly choice.
  • Suppresses weeds, reducing the need for herbicides.
  • Improves soil structure and enriches it with essential nutrients.

  • Sustainable and contributes to addressing climate change.

Cons

  • Results can vary depending on different growing conditions.
  • May require reapplication over time.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup:

  1. Prepare the area by removing any existing weeds.
  2. Spread a 1-inch layer of RocketGro Magic Mulch evenly over the soil surface.
  3. Avoid piling mulch directly against plant stems to prevent rot.

Compatibility:

RocketGro Magic Mulch is suitable for use in a wide variety of garden settings, including flower beds, vegetable gardens, and around shrubs and trees.

Care:

  • Reapply mulch as needed, typically once or twice a year, to maintain the 1-inch layer and replenish nutrients.
  • Water plants regularly, especially during dry periods, even with the mulch's water-retention properties.
  • Avoid disturbing the mulch layer unnecessarily, as this can reduce its effectiveness in weed suppression.
