First put in your fence posts. Space 1.8m to 2m apart – for a garden you can use 50mm dia. round posts or 75mm dia. round posts. The 75m dia. posts are much stronger and will last a lot longer and we recommend you place one at the start and end of your fence and one every 5 posts in between to act as strainers. The fences come in rolls and you roll-out the fence as you fix it to the post using ‘U’ shaped fencing staples – don’t un-roll the whole fence! Work from post to post, making sure the bottom wire is touching the ground at all times. You can pull the fence tight by hand or with a tension bar but make sure you don’t over-tension – if the spring kinks are stretched out it is too tight – wire expands and contracts with heat so you must allow the spring kinks to do their job – otherwise the fence will sag. We also stock a wide range of fencing staples, line wire and high tensile barbed wire, as well a full range of fence posts. Create secure boundaries with lightweight wire stock fencing designed for versatility and durability, perfect for dog proofing, garden edges or livestock enclosures. Made from mild steel and hot dipped for longevity, you'll find installation easy with spring kinks between each vertical wire and a simple staple-to-post method. This fence suits field boundaries, horse paddocks and sheep enclosures, blending seamlessly with hedges for a neat finish. Create secure boundaries with ease using lightweight wire fencing designed for small livestock and pets, offering reliable protection for gardens and fields. Made from mild steel, this fence has 15cm gaps between vertical wires for flexibility and strength. Hot-dipped galvanisation and compliance with BS EN 10244-2 Class A standards mean you'll get long-lasting durability whether it's for dog-proofing, cattle enclosures or supporting a growing hedge.
This wire fencing is designed for homeowners and smallholders seeking a durable and versatile solution for creating secure boundaries. Its key benefit is providing reliable protection for gardens, fields, and livestock enclosures with easy installation. A potential caveat is that for very heavy livestock or extreme conditions, stronger fencing solutions might be more appropriate. The fencing is made from hot-dipped galvanised mild steel with 15cm gaps between vertical wires, offering flexibility and strength, and complies with BS EN 10244-2 Class A standards for longevity.

FAQs
What is the width between the vertical wires?
The width between the vertical wires is consistently 15cm for all stock fences of this type.
What is the recommended post spacing for this fencing?
We recommend spacing fence posts between 1.8m and 2m apart for optimal support.
Can this fencing be used for large livestock like horses?
While it can be used for horse paddocks, it is primarily designed for small livestock and pets. For horses, especially if they are prone to leaning or pushing, consider reinforcing the fence or using heavier-duty options.
How do I ensure the fence is correctly tensioned?
Tension the fence until it is taut but do not over-tension. The spring kinks should remain visible and not be stretched flat. Wire naturally expands and contracts with temperature, so some flexibility is necessary.
What does BS EN 10244-2 Class A compliance mean?
This compliance indicates that the galvanisation on the wire meets specific standards for quality and durability, ensuring good adhesion and thickness of the zinc coating for enhanced corrosion resistance.
Can I cut this fencing to size?
Yes, the wire fencing can be cut to custom lengths using appropriate wire cutters. Ensure cut edges are handled carefully.
Is this fencing suitable for coastal areas?
The hot-dipped galvanisation offers good protection against corrosion. However, very harsh coastal environments with salt spray can accelerate wear. Regular inspection and maintenance are advised.
Troubleshooting
Fence is sagging
Check tension on the wires. Over time, tension can loosen. Re-tension using a tension bar, ensuring not to overstretch the spring kinks. Inspect posts for stability.
Animal found a way through the fence
Examine the fence for holes or gaps, particularly at the bottom where animals might dig. Reinforce the base with additional wire, stakes, or consider a taller fence height. Ensure posts are securely installed.
Fence appears to be rusting
While hot-dipped galvanisation provides excellent protection, prolonged exposure to harsh conditions or damage to the coating can lead to rust. Minor surface rust can often be cleaned. For significant corrosion, consider replacing affected sections.
Difficulty in unrolling the fencing
Work in sections and secure the roll to prevent uncontrolled unspooling, especially in windy weather. Use a helper if necessary. Ensure the ground is relatively clear of obstructions.
Pros and Cons
Pros
Provides excellent security for pets and small livestock.
Hot-dipped galvanisation offers superior rust resistance.
Flexible design accommodates temperature fluctuations.
Easy to install with basic tools.
Versatile for various garden and field applications.
Complies with industry standards for quality.
Cons
May not be suitable for large, aggressive livestock without additional reinforcement.
Requires regular post maintenance to ensure fence stability.
Can be challenging to unroll and manage in windy conditions.
The 15cm gap might be too large for very small animals or poultry.
Requires purchasing compatible posts and fixing materials separately.
Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
Install Posts: Set sturdy fence posts (e.g., 50mm or 75mm diameter) approximately 1.8m to 2m apart. For added strength, use larger posts at the start, end, and every five posts as strainers.
Unroll Fencing: Carefully unroll the fencing as you move from post to post. Avoid unrolling the entire length at once, especially in windy conditions.
Attach Fencing: Fix the fence to the posts using 'U' shaped fencing staples. Ensure the bottom wire remains in contact with the ground.
Tensioning: Pull the fence taut by hand or with a tension bar. Be careful not to over-tension; the spring kinks should remain intact to allow for expansion and contraction. If kinks are stretched out, the tension is too high.
Compatibility:
Compatible with various types of fencing posts (wood, metal).
Works well with additional fencing materials like line wire and high tensile barbed wire (sold separately).
Requires standard fencing staples for attachment.
Care:
The hot-dipped galvanised finish requires minimal care. Periodic inspection for damage or rust is recommended.
Ensure posts remain stable. Loose or leaning posts can compromise fence integrity.
Clean off any excessive debris that may accumulate on the wires, which could retain moisture and accelerate corrosion over time.
