The pattern is designed for use with Merino Blend DK yarn. Using a different yarn may affect the gauge and appearance of the finished garment.
You will need 3.75mm and 4.0mm knitting needles.
Merino Blend DK yarn can be purchased from most yarn shops or online retailers that sell knitting supplies.
The pattern includes instructions for bust sizes ranging from 81 - 107 cms / 32 - 42 inches.
The pattern is best suited for intermediate knitters due to the lace detail and construction techniques involved.
A drop shoulder refers to a sleeve that is sewn to the body of the garment with a seam that begins further down on the arm, creating a relaxed fit.
You can substitute yarn but ensure that the yarn is DK weight. You will need to knit a gauge swatch to make sure that the finished garment size is correct.
Carefully re-read the instructions. If necessary, consult online knitting resources or videos for clarification. Check for errata on the King Cole website.
Knit a gauge swatch before starting. Adjust needle size if needed to achieve the correct gauge as stated in the pattern.
Carefully check your stitch counts and follow the lace chart or written instructions row by row.
To begin, you will need the King Cole 5953 pattern, Merino Blend DK yarn, and 3.75mm and 4.0mm knitting needles. Ensure you have the correct yarn weight and needle sizes for best results. Follow the pattern instructions precisely. The care of your finished garment will depend on the yarn used. Generally, hand wash items in cool water with a gentle detergent, and dry flat to maintain shape and prevent shrinkage. Always refer to the yarn label for specific care instructions.
