Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: The Wera KK VDE 17 RA 1 set is ready for use straight out of the box. To assemble a tool, select the desired VDE blade and insert its shaft firmly into the chuck of either the 837 i RA ratchet handle or the 817 VDE handle until it clicks into place. For the ratchet handle, ensure the desired direction (clockwise, counter-clockwise, or locked) is selected using the integrated switch before applying torque.
Compatibility: The VDE blades included in this set are designed to work with the provided Wera Kraftform Kompakt handles. The ratchet mechanism is specifically designed for 1/4" hex shank VDE blades. Ensure any non-Wera blades used are also VDE certified and compatible with the handle's chuck mechanism.
Care:
- Cleaning: After each use, clean the blades and handles with a dry, lint-free cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a slightly damp cloth and ensure the tools are completely dry before storage. Avoid using solvents or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the insulation.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect the VDE insulation on all blades and handles for any signs of damage, cracking, or wear. If any damage is detected, the tool must be immediately removed from service and replaced, as compromised insulation can lead to electric shock.
- Storage: Store the set in the provided robust belt pouch when not in use. This protects the tools from dirt, damage, and moisture, and keeps them organized. Avoid storing in environments with extreme temperatures or high humidity.
- Ratchet Mechanism: Periodically check the smooth operation of the ratchet mechanism. If it feels stiff or noisy, ensure it is free from debris. Lubrication is generally not required unless specified by the manufacturer for long-term storage.
