Setup, Compatibility & Care
Planting:
- Choose a location that receives at least six hours of sunlight per day.
- Ensure the soil is well-drained. If planting in a pot, use a good quality potting compost.
- Dig a hole slightly larger than the 4-litre pot the rose is supplied in.
- Gently remove the rose from its pot, loosen any circling roots, and place it in the hole.
- Backfill with soil, firming gently around the base.
- Water thoroughly after planting.
Compatibility:
This rose is compatible with most garden soils and can be grown alongside other flowering plants in beds and borders. It thrives in containers, making it suitable for balconies and patios. It pairs well with plants that offer contrasting flower colors or foliage textures.
Care:
- Watering: Water regularly, especially during dry periods. Aim to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.
- Feeding: Apply a balanced rose fertilizer in spring as new growth appears, and again after the first flush of blooms.
- Pruning: Prune in late winter or early spring. Remove any dead, diseased, or crossing branches. Cut back main stems by about one-third to one-half.
- Pest & Disease Control: Monitor for common rose pests like aphids and diseases such as black spot. Treat as necessary with appropriate garden sprays.
