FAQs
Is this speaker suitable for marine use?
Yes, its weather-resistant Mylar construction makes it well-suited for high-humidity and outdoor environments.
Does this speaker include a protective grill?
The speaker does not feature a detachable protection cover; the design assumes the Mylar cone is the primary exposure layer.
Can I use this for home theater audio?
No, this is a miniature monitoring speaker designed for voice and alerts, not full-range cinematic sound.
What is the mounting diameter?
The total physical dimensions are 50 x 50 mm, fitting a standard small-form-factor cutout.
Is this magnetically shielded?
No, the VS-K50WP is not magnetically shielded, so keep it away from sensitive magnetic components.
What are the impedance options for this model?
This specific model (MPN 2915) is 8 Ohms. Other variants exist with 16 or 50 Ohms if required.
Troubleshooting
Distorted sound at high volumes
The speaker is reaching its maximum power limit of 2W RMS; reduce the volume on your amplifier.
Lack of bass response
Ensure the speaker is mounted in a properly sealed enclosure; the small driver requires an acoustic load to improve low-end performance.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Excellent resistance to weather and UV light
- Extremely compact and lightweight at 48g
- Ideal for integration into enclosed monitoring devices
- Clear voice and mid-range reproduction
Cons
- Not magnetically shielded
- Limited power handling at 2W RMS
- Not intended for high-fidelity bass performance
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure the speaker reaches its IP65 rating, it must be mounted into a sealed enclosure with a gasket ensuring a tight fit between the speaker flange and the mounting surface.
- Connection: This unit features a nominal impedance of 8 Ohms. Ensure your amplifier output matches this impedance for optimal power transfer.
- Powering: Keep within the 2W RMS limit to prevent voice coil damage.
- Care: The Mylar diaphragm is durable, but avoid touching it directly with sharp objects. If cleaning is necessary, use a dry or slightly damp cloth to wipe the surface; do not use harsh chemicals that might degrade the ABS plastic housing.
