FAQs

What is the difference between cold-pressed and kibble dog food?

Cold-pressed food is made by pressing ingredients at low temperatures, which helps retain more natural nutrients and makes it easier to digest. Kibble is typically extruded at high temperatures, which can degrade some nutrients and make it harder to digest.

Can I feed this to my puppy?

Yes, Wilsons Cold Pressed Chicken Dog Food is suitable for puppies aged 2 months and older, provided the chosen recipe meets their nutritional requirements.

How should I store the food once opened?

Store the food in a cool, dry place and ensure the packaging is sealed tightly after each use to maintain freshness.

What are the main ingredients in this chicken recipe?

The main ingredients include ground dried chicken (29%), sweet potato, peas, and chicken fat (9%), along with a blend of vitamins, minerals, and beneficial additives like glucosamine and chondroitin.

Is this food suitable for dogs with allergies?

Yes, Wilsons offers a range of allergy-friendly recipes, including grain-free and chicken-free options, to cater to dogs with specific sensitivities.

What is the protein and fat content?

This specific recipe contains Crude Protein 26% and Crude Fat 14%.

Is the packaging recyclable?

Yes, the packaging for Wilsons Cold Pressed Dog Food is designed to be eco-conscious and is completely recyclable.

Troubleshooting

Dog is reluctant to eat the new food.

Ensure a gradual transition over 7-10 days. Some dogs may need more time to adjust to the texture and scent of cold-pressed food. You can try slightly warming the food with a little water to enhance its aroma.

Loose stools or digestive upset during transition.

Slow down the transition process. Increase the amount of old food and decrease the new food, then gradually reintroduce the new food over a longer period. Ensure your dog has constant access to fresh water.

Food appears dry or crumbly.

This is normal for cold-pressed food. The pellets are designed to be nutrient-dense and may have a different texture than extruded kibble. Add a small amount of warm water to soften if preferred.

Pros and Cons

Maximizes nutrient retention due to low-temperature pressing.
Easier to digest and more nutritious than standard kibble.

Cons

May require a transition period due to different texture/scent.
Not suitable for dogs requiring grain-free diets if a grain-inclusive recipe is chosen (though grain-free options exist).
Cold-pressed pellets are smaller and denser than kibble, which might take some getting used to for dogs.
Specific ingredient sensitivities, though allergies are catered for, can still occur with any food.
