The SmallRig RM 40C is a portable, high-output lighting solution designed for content creators, mobile videographers, and run-and-gun photographers who need professional-grade illumination in a palm-sized form factor. Its key benefit is the combination of a 40W RGBWW output and a versatile 2500K-10,000K color temperature range, packed into a lightweight 302g frame; however, users should be aware that the 55-minute battery runtime at maximum power may require an external power bank for extended production days.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To begin using the RM 40C, charge the device fully using a compatible PD charger to ensure optimal performance. The interface is controlled directly via the buttons on the side, with settings visible on the rear LCD. When mounting, ensure the surface is clean to maximize the magnetic connection, or use the integrated screw mount for standard tripod attachments. To care for your light, store it in a cool, dry environment and avoid exposing the unit to moisture or excessive dust. Regularly cycle the battery by charging it after use to maintain battery health, and avoid leaving it in high-temperature environments like a closed car under the sun.
