Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Preparation: Ensure you have a stable, flat surface to work on, such as a workbench or counter. It's recommended to place the stone on a non-slip mat or use a stone holder (not included) for added stability.
- Lubrication: Before use, apply a small amount of honing oil or water to the surface of the stone. This helps to lubricate the sharpening process and prevents the metal filings from clogging the stone.
Compatibility
The Amtech sharpening stone is compatible with:
- Chisel blades
- Knives
- Scissors
Care
- Cleaning: After each use, clean the stone with water and a brush to remove metal filings. Avoid using harsh chemicals.
- Drying: Allow the stone to air dry completely before storing it. Store the stone in a dry location to prevent cracking or damage.
- Flatness: Over time, the stone may become uneven. Use a lapping plate to flatten the stone regularly.
