FAQs
What is the SNR rating for these earplugs?
The 3M E-A-R Soft FX earplugs feature an SNR rating of 39.
Can I wash and reuse these?
No, these are intended for single-use only. Washing them will compromise their structural integrity and hearing protection capabilities.
Are these suitable for people with small ears?
Because these earplugs are designed for maximum protection, they have a larger volume of foam. Users with small ear canals might find them difficult to insert comfortably.
Do these contain latex?
3M E-A-R Soft FX earplugs are typically made from polyurethane foam and are generally considered latex-free.
How many pairs are in a box?
This pack contains 200 pairs of corded earplugs.
Troubleshooting
Earplugs won't stay in the ear
Ensure the plug is rolled into a very thin, tight cylinder before insertion and held in place until fully expanded.
Not blocking enough sound
You likely have not achieved a proper seal. Remove, re-roll the foam more tightly, and re-insert deeper into the canal.
Pressure or discomfort in the ear
The earplug may be inserted too deeply. Try inserting it slightly less or use a smaller size if the discomfort persists.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Highest level of protection in the 3M range
- Soft foam material is comfortable for extended wear
- Easy to insert thanks to the tapered geometry
- High-visibility cord helps prevent misplacement
- Economical bulk pack size
Cons
- Larger diameter may be uncomfortable for small ear canals
- Foam material is single-use only and cannot be cleaned
- Requires proper rolling technique for effective seal
Setup, Compatibility & Care
- Insertion: Always ensure hands are clean before rolling the foam to prevent transferring debris into the ear canal.
- Compatibility: These are unisex earplugs designed to fit the vast majority of adult ear canal sizes.
- Care: These are disposable, single-use products. Do not attempt to wash or reuse the foam, as moisture and cleaning agents can degrade the material and compromise the noise reduction rating.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to maintain the integrity of the foam expansion properties.
