The Laser Tools Inner/Outer Wheel & Hub Cleaner (9170) is designed for automotive professionals and DIY enthusiasts seeking a fast and effective method for cleaning inner wheel mating surfaces and wheel studs. Its primary benefit is reducing the time and effort required for thorough cleaning, ensuring a better fit and seal for wheels. A potential caveat is the need for a 1/2" drive impact gun or power tool for operation, which may not be readily available to all users. This tool features a composite body with a metal insert, hook & loop abrasive pad fixing, and includes two types of abrasive discs for different cleaning tasks.

You will need a 1/2" drive impact gun or a suitable power tool capable of reaching up to 1500 RPM.
Use the disc with the raised center section for cleaning the inner mating surfaces of wheels. Use the disc with the larger center hole for cleaning stud-less hubs.
The maximum recommended speed for the Laser Wheel & Hub Cleaner is 1500 RPM.
The frequency of replacement depends on usage and the condition of the surface being cleaned. Inspect discs regularly for wear and replace them when they are no longer effective.
This tool is specifically designed for cleaning the inner mating surfaces of the wheel and the hub face. It is not intended for cleaning the exterior aesthetic surfaces of the wheel.
Replacement inner wheel abrasive pads are available under Laser Part No. 9171, and hub abrasive pads are available under Part No. 8809.
Ensure the 1/2" drive shank is fully seated in your impact gun or power tool. Verify the tool is operating within the maximum 1500 RPM limit. Check if the abrasive disc is excessively worn.
Check the hook & loop surfaces on both the tool's pad and the abrasive disc for debris. Ensure you are using the correct type of replacement disc for your application.
This could indicate a damaged abrasive disc or an unbalanced attachment. Inspect the disc for tears or damage. Ensure the disc is centered correctly on the tool's pad.
Ensure you are using the correct disc for the surface type. The abrasive discs are consumables and may need replacement if they have become glazed or worn down.
