Product Information

Full details

The e.l.f. Main Stain Lip Marker is designed for makeup enthusiasts seeking a long-lasting, low-maintenance lip color that offers a precise, natural finish. Perfect for those who want to sculpt and fill their lips with ease, this product utilizes a felt-tip applicator to provide buildable, goof-proof pigment; however, users should note that as a lip stain, it requires careful preparation of the lips to avoid uneven absorption on dry patches.

FAQs

Does this product feel sticky like a lip gloss?

No, the Main Stain Lip Marker is water-based and dries down to a natural, weightless finish that feels like bare skin.

Can I layer this with other lip products?

Yes, it works beautifully as a base for lip balms or clear glosses once the stain has fully dried.

How do I remove the stain at the end of the day?

Use an oil-based cleanser or a dedicated makeup remover to effectively break down the pigment.

Is the marker tip prone to fraying?

With gentle pressure and ensuring the cap is replaced carefully, the tip should maintain its shape for the duration of the product's life.

Is this product vegan and cruelty-free?

Yes, like all e.l.f. Cosmetics products, the Main Stain Lip Marker is 100% vegan and cruelty-free.

Troubleshooting

The color is applying unevenly

This is likely due to dry patches on the lips. Exfoliate your lips gently and ensure they are clean before application.

The tip feels dry

Store the marker upside down (cap facing down) for at least 30 minutes to allow the pigment to saturate the felt tip.

Accidental application outside the lip line

Use a cotton swab dipped in a small amount of oil-based makeup remover immediately to lift the pigment before it stains the skin.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Precise felt-tip applicator allows for perfect lining and filling
Lightweight formula feels weightless on the lips
Buildable color intensity allows for customizable looks
Long-wearing pigment that holds up well through meals

Cons

May highlight dry or chapped lip skin if not exfoliated first
The felt tip may dry out if the cap is not replaced firmly
Limited forgiveness if applied outside the lip line due to staining nature

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Before use, ensure your lips are hydrated and free of dead skin; a light exfoliation followed by a quick swipe of lip balm (wiped off before applying the marker) is ideal. Always store the marker tip-down to ensure the felt tip remains saturated with pigment for your next use. When finished, press the cap until you hear a clear click to prevent the formula from evaporating. The marker is compatible with most clear lip glosses if you wish to add extra shine over the stain after it has fully dried.
