Setup, Compatibility & Care
Upon arrival, the plant should be placed in a spot that receives partial shade. Because the Camellia is an acid-loving plant, use ericaceous compost if you decide to repot it in the future. Watering is critical; use collected rainwater whenever possible, as tap water can sometimes be too alkaline, which may inhibit nutrient absorption and affect bud development. Keep the soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. Ensure that the pot remains in a sheltered location, away from frost pockets and strong, drying winds. Regularly check the soil moisture levels during the summer months, as this is when the plant is setting the buds that will provide your display for the following spring.
