Product Information

Full details

This Beg Bruck motion detector is ideal for commercial and residential spaces needing automated lighting control. Its key benefit is reliable detection of small movements, ensuring lights turn on when needed and saving energy. A potential caveat is its maximum detection range, which might require careful placement or the use of cover caps for smaller areas. This passive infrared sensor offers a 360° detection range and features adjustable response values for light levels, parallel connection capability for extended coverage, and remote operation.

Extended Product Information

FAQs

What is the maximum detection area of this motion detector?

The detector has a 360° range, covering up to 8 meters sideways, 4.8 meters frontally, and 3.2 meters when seated. This range can be adjusted using the provided cover caps.

Can I connect multiple motion detectors together?

Yes, multiple detectors can be connected in parallel to expand the detection coverage area.

What is the recommended installation height?

The motion detector works optimally when mounted at a height of 2.5 meters. The acceptable range is between 2 meters and 5 meters.

Can this detector be used in wet or outdoor environments?

The detector has an IP23 rating, meaning it is protected against angled water spray. It is not recommended for high-moisture or direct outdoor exposure without adequate protection.

Does this motion detector integrate with smart home systems like Alexa or Google Home?

No, this model is not networkable and does not support integration with smart home platforms like Apple HomeKit, Google Assistant, or Amazon Alexa.

What is the maximum power load it can handle?

It can switch a maximum of 1000W for incandescent loads and 200W for LED loads.

How do I adjust the sensitivity to light?

The response value for luminosity is adjustable between 10 and 2000 lux. This setting can typically be adjusted via controls on the device or through its remote operation feature.

Troubleshooting

Motion detector not turning on lights

Verify power supply to the detector. Check that the ambient light level is below the set response value. Ensure the detector is properly wired and within its detection range of the motion. Confirm the connected light fixture is functional.

Lights turn on unnecessarily

Adjust the response value for luminosity to a higher setting. Use the supplied cover caps to reduce the detection range or block off areas with unwanted movement sources. Ensure the detector is not placed near heat sources or air vents that could trigger false detection.

Inconsistent or weak detection

Confirm the detector is mounted at the optimal height (around 2.5m). Check for any obstructions in front of the sensor lens. If multiple detectors are used, ensure they are correctly wired in parallel.

Detector does not respond to remote operation

Ensure the remote operation feature is enabled and the remote control (if applicable and available) is within range and functioning. Check battery if the remote uses one. Consult the specific manual for remote pairing or operation instructions.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Reliable detection of even minor movements.
Flexible detection range customization with cover caps.
Expandable coverage through parallel detector connections.
Suitable for various ambient light conditions with adjustable lux settings.
High power handling capacity for different lighting types.

Cons

Requires specific mounting height for optimal performance (2.5m recommended).
Limited wireless connectivity and smart home integration.
IP23 rating means protection against solid objects larger than 12.5mm and angled water spray, limiting outdoor or high-moisture area use.
No built-in DALI interface or HVAC control.
Manual remote operation may be required, as no remote control is included according to specifications.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup:

Mounting: Install the detector at the optimal height of 2.5m (minimum 2m, maximum 5m) on a suitable surface (ceiling mounting is supported). Ensure the desired detection area is within the sensor's range.
Wiring: Connect the detector according to the provided wiring diagram for single or parallel installations. Ensure power is disconnected before wiring.
Configuration: Adjust the response value for luminosity (10-2000 lx) and potentially the switch-off delay (though listed as 0s, refer to advanced settings if available) using accessible controls or the remote operation feature.
Range Adjustment: If needed, use the supplied cover caps to reduce the detection range in specific directions.

Compatibility:

Voltage: Operates on a nominal voltage of 240V.
Lighting Types: Suitable for switching standard lighting (up to 1000W) and LED lighting (up to 200W).
Load Types: Not specifically suitable for C-load.
Network: Not networkable and does not support wireless transmission or smart home integration (e.g., Apple HomeKit, Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa).
Integration: Does not feature a DALI interface or HVAC control.

Care:

Cleaning: Gently wipe the exterior surface with a dry or slightly damp, soft cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
Environment: Operate within the specified temperature range of -25°C to 50°C. Protect from excessive moisture, as the IP23 rating offers limited protection against water.
Maintenance: Periodically check for any obstructions to the sensor lens. Ensure wiring connections remain secure.
