Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure the best results, prepare your soil by raking it to a fine tilth, ensuring it is fertile and moist. Sow seeds thinly at a depth of 1cm.
- Spring/Summer: Sow directly outdoors in a spot receiving sun or semi-shade.
- Autumn: Use cloches or a cold greenhouse to provide the necessary thermal protection for overwintering.
- Maintenance: Always use protective netting or horticultural fleece after thinning to shield developing leaves from garden pests and birds. Regular watering is key, even with its drought tolerance, to maintain the crispness of the leaves.
