Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: Plant the Juncus Effusus 'spirals' in a suitable container or directly into the marginal shelf of a pond. Ensure the soil is kept consistently moist or waterlogged. If planting in a container, use a well-draining compost mixed with loam and place it in shallow water (2-6 inches deep). For direct planting, position in the soil at the pond's edge where it will remain wet.
Compatibility: This plant is compatible with most pond plants and aquatic wildlife. It thrives in the company of other marginal plants and is suitable for mixed plantings in bog gardens. Avoid placing it in areas that dry out quickly.
Care: Water regularly to maintain soil moisture; it thrives in wet conditions. In early spring, before new growth emerges, cut back the old stems to encourage fresh growth. Divide clumps if they become overcrowded or too large for their space, typically done in spring.
