Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup:
Upon receiving your Trek Marlin 6 Gen 3, it's recommended to have it professionally assembled and tuned by a qualified bicycle mechanic to ensure safety and optimal performance. This includes proper fitting of components, brake adjustment, and drivetrain calibration.
Compatibility:
- Tires: The frame offers increased tire clearance, generally accommodating up to 2.6-inch tires, but always check specific tire-frame clearance before installation.
- Dropper Post: The frame is designed with internal routing ports specifically for dropper seatposts. Ensure compatibility with aftermarket dropper posts.
- Accessories: Standard mounts are available for racks and mudguards, compatible with most common bicycle accessories.
Care and Maintenance:
- Cleaning: Regularly clean the bike using water and mild soap. Avoid high-pressure washers, especially near bearings. Dry the bike thoroughly after washing.
- Drivetrain: Keep the chain clean and lubricated. Regularly inspect for wear and tear. The Shimano CUES drivetrain is designed for durability but benefits from regular cleaning and lubrication.
- Brakes: Periodically check brake pad wear and rotor condition. Hydraulic brakes may require bleeding by a professional if lever feel becomes soft.
- Suspension Fork: Follow the manufacturer's recommendations for servicing the RockShox Judy fork, typically involving basic cleaning and lubrication of stanchions.
- Storage: Store the bike in a dry, sheltered environment away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
