Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
These planters arrive fully assembled, meaning no construction is required. Simply unpack them and place them in your desired location. Due to their weight (17kg each before soil and plants), it's advisable to position them before filling.
Compatibility:
- Location: Suitable for gardens, patios, decking, balconies, and courtyards. Ensure the ground or surface is level and stable.
- Drainage: While designed for outdoor use, it's recommended to ensure adequate drainage. If placing directly on soil, the timber base allows for natural drainage. If placing on a solid surface like a patio, consider drilling a few drainage holes in the base if none are present, or ensure the planter is slightly elevated.
- Planting: Ideal for a wide variety of plants, including flowers, shrubs, small trees, herbs, and vegetables.
Care:
To maximize the lifespan of your timber planters (up to the guaranteed 20 years), follow these care tips:
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the exterior with a soft brush or damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
- Inspection: Annually inspect the planter for any signs of wear or damage, particularly around the base.
- Re-treatment (Optional): While the timber is pressure-treated, applying a suitable exterior wood preserver or stain every 2-3 years can further protect the wood and maintain its appearance. Ensure the product is safe for contact with plants.
- Drainage Check: Ensure drainage holes remain clear of blockages.
- Winter Care: In harsh climates, consider placing planters on pot feet or small blocks to lift them slightly off the ground, improving air circulation and reducing moisture contact with the base.
