Seachem Reef Kalkwasser is a high-purity calcium hydroxide powder formulated for preparing limewater (kalkwasser) solutions to help maintain calcium at natural seawater levels in reef aquariums. It supports coral growth by directly increasing calcium and indirectly boosting carbonate alkalinity, making it a trusted choice for experienced reef keepers. The product dissolves quickly, offering excellent solubility and consistent performance when used in top-off water. Reef Kalkwasser is calcium hydroxide of unprecedented purity and with solubility features. Calcium hydroxide is used to prepare limewater (kalkwasser) solutions to maintain calcium concentration at levels found in natural seawater. Kalkwasser solutions maintain calcium levels directly and alkalinity indirectly. However, its ability to achieve these effects depends on the evaporation rate and CO2 concentration. If these two factors are insufficient, calcium can be provided using Reef Advantage Calcium, Reef Complete, or Reef Calcium, and carbonate alkalinity can be boosted with Reef Builder or Reef Carbonate (do not mix them directly with kalkwasser).
