FAQs

Who is the Salomon Strive 12 binding best suited for?

The Strive 12 is ideal for advanced to expert skiers who prioritize power, control, and a direct connection to the snow. It's designed for those who want to feel every nuance of the terrain and push their skiing performance.

What is the main benefit of the ultra-low profile toe piece?

The ultra-low profile toe piece lowers your center of gravity, allowing for a more intimate feel with the snow, which translates to quicker reactions and enhanced control.

Are these bindings compatible with all ski boots?

No, the Strive 12 bindings are designed for compatibility with ski boots featuring Gripwalk soles. It's essential to ensure your boots meet this specification.

How does the elasticity of the binding benefit me?

The 47mm of elasticity provides a significant range of movement, absorbing impacts and maintaining secure boot retention, which builds confidence and security, especially at higher speeds.

Can I use these bindings for backcountry skiing?

While they offer Gripwalk compatibility for easier walking, these are primarily alpine ski bindings designed for resort skiing and downhill performance, not for touring bindings with uphill climbing mechanisms.

What maintenance is required for the Strive 12 bindings?

Regular cleaning to remove snow and ice is recommended. Periodically wipe them down with a damp cloth. Professional checks for proper function and release settings are advised annually or as needed.

Is professional installation necessary?

Yes, professional installation by a certified technician is strongly recommended to ensure correct boot fitting and safety release settings, which are critical for preventing injury.

Troubleshooting

Difficulty stepping in or out of the binding

Ensure snow and ice are cleared from the boot sole and binding interfaces. Verify that your boot sole is clean and undamaged. If problems persist, consult a ski technician for adjustment.

Binding pre-releases unexpectedly

This could indicate that the DIN setting is too low for your skiing style or weight, or that the binding requires recalibration. A ski technician should check and adjust the DIN settings.

Ski feels unresponsive or sluggish

Check that the boot is properly seated in the binding. Ensure the AFD pad is clean and free of debris. Confirm that the binding is correctly mounted and aligned on the ski.

Noise or creaking from the binding

This may be due to debris within the binding mechanism or dry components. Gently clean the binding and consider a light application of a silicone-based lubricant on pivot points if recommended by the manufacturer (consult a technician first).
