FAQs
What activities are the Yaktrax best suited for?
The Yaktrax are best suited for walking, hiking, and general outdoor activities on snow and ice. They provide enhanced stability and reduce the risk of slips.
Can I run in Yaktrax?
While some users may use them for light jogging on icy surfaces, they are not designed for high-impact running. Use on varied terrain or at high speeds can cause premature wear or damage.
How do I clean my Yaktrax?
Rinse them with cool, clean water after each use to remove dirt and salt. Allow them to air dry completely before storing. Avoid using harsh chemicals or machine washing.
What size Yaktrax do I need?
The Yaktrax are available in different sizes to fit various adult shoe sizes. Refer to the sizing chart provided by the manufacturer to select the best fit for your specific footwear.
How long do Yaktrax typically last?
The lifespan of Yaktrax depends on the frequency of use, the types of surfaces they are used on, and proper care. With regular use on snow and ice and proper maintenance, they can last for multiple seasons.
Can Yaktrax be used on slippery indoor surfaces?
It is not recommended to use Yaktrax on indoor surfaces, as they can damage delicate flooring and may not provide the intended grip. They are designed for outdoor icy and snowy conditions.
Troubleshooting
Yaktrax feels loose or shifts during use.
Ensure you have selected the correct size for your footwear. Re-adjust the Yaktrax, making sure the heel band is securely over the back of your shoe. Check for any debris stuck on the shoe that might be preventing a snug fit.
Reduced traction on certain surfaces.
The Yaktrax is optimized for ice and snow. Traction may be reduced on dry pavement, gravel, or mud. Remove the Yaktrax when walking on surfaces other than snow or ice to maintain performance and prevent premature wear.
Coils appear to be stretching or deforming.
This can happen with excessive use on abrasive surfaces like concrete or rocks. Limit use to snow and ice conditions. Inspect the coils regularly for damage and replace if significantly worn or misshapen.
