FAQs

What is included in the Febi 100222 kit?

The kit includes the CV joint boot, necessary clamping clips, a circlip, and a pack of high-temperature lubricant.

How do I know if this boot fits my car?

You must consult your vehicle's service manual or a professional parts catalog to compare your car's requirements with the 107 mm length and 140 mm/295 mm inner diameter specifications.

Can I reuse the old grease?

No, you should always use the new high-temperature lubricant included in the kit to ensure the joint is properly lubricated and free of contaminants.

How often should I check the CV boots?

It is recommended to inspect your CV boots for cracks or leaks during every scheduled oil change or vehicle maintenance interval.

What happens if I don't replace a torn boot?

If left unaddressed, the CV joint will lose its lubrication and be exposed to debris, leading to rapid wear, clicking noises, and potential drive shaft failure.

Troubleshooting

Clamps won't stay tight

Ensure you are using a proper CV boot banding tool to achieve the correct tension required for the clamps.

Boot is rubbing against components

Verify that the boot is seated correctly in the retention grooves and that the axle length is properly aligned.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Before starting installation, always verify compatibility using your vehicle's VIN or the manufacturer's service information, as these dimensions are application-specific.

  1. Secure the vehicle on jack stands or a lift.
  2. Remove the axle assembly following factory service manual instructions.
  3. Remove the damaged boot and clean the joint thoroughly.
  4. Apply the included high-temperature lubricant generously to the joint.
  5. Slide the new Febi 100222 boot into position and secure it firmly with the provided clamping clips.

Regularly inspect the boot for signs of cracking or grease leakage during every oil change to ensure the seal remains intact.
