Product Information

Full details

The MET Codatronca Aero Helmet is designed for adult triathletes and time trial cyclists seeking a performance edge through superior aerodynamics. Its key benefit is maintaining an aerodynamic profile across multiple head positions, a crucial advantage during intense, dynamic races. However, its specialized design might offer less ventilation compared to traditional road helmets. This helmet features an in-mould polycarbonate shell with an EPS liner for protection, an advanced Safe-T Orbital Fit System for a secure and adjustable fit, and integrated internal air channeling for improved airflow. It also includes a magnetic Fidlock buckle for easy use and a MET Dual Fumè shield for enhanced visibility.

FAQs

What is the primary purpose of the MET Codatronca helmet?

The MET Codatronca is specifically designed for triathlon and time trial cycling, prioritizing aerodynamic performance across various head positions.

How do I determine the correct size for my helmet?

Measure the circumference of your head about an inch above your eyebrows and ears. Refer to the size chart: S (52-56cm), M (56-58cm), L (58-61cm).

Can I use this helmet for everyday road cycling?

While it offers protection, its design is optimized for aerodynamic efficiency in time trials and triathlons. For general road cycling with a focus on ventilation and broader visibility, a dedicated road helmet might be more suitable.

How often should I wash the helmet pads?

It is recommended to hand wash the pads after particularly sweaty rides or when they show signs of odor. Ensure they are completely dry before reattaching.

What certifications does the MET Codatronca helmet have?

The helmet meets CE and AS/NZS safety certifications, ensuring it complies with international safety standards.

Is the shield removable?

The MET Dual Fumè Shield is integrated into the helmet design. While not designed for frequent removal, it can be detached for cleaning purposes following manufacturer guidelines.

What is the weight of the helmet?

The weight varies by size: S is 335g, M is 370g, and L is 395g.

Troubleshooting

Helmet feels too tight or causes pressure points.

Readjust the Safe-T Orbital Fit System. Loosen the rear dial and adjust the vertical and occipital cradles. Ensure the helmet is centered correctly on your head.

Chin strap buckle is difficult to fasten or unfasten.

Ensure the magnetic components of the Fidlock buckle are properly aligned. Wipe the buckle with a clean cloth to remove any dirt or debris that might interfere with its magnetic connection.

Pads feel uncomfortable or are not drying properly.

Ensure pads are fully dry before reinserting. If discomfort persists, check for proper helmet fit, as incorrect fit can exacerbate pad pressure.

Shield fogs up during use.

Ensure adequate ventilation by checking internal air channels. Consider using an anti-fog spray specifically designed for helmet visors if fogging is persistent in humid conditions.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Exceptional aerodynamic performance in various head positions.
Secure and highly adjustable fit system for comfort and stability.
Integrated shield offers improved visibility and protection.
Durable construction with in-mould technology.
Easy to use magnetic buckle.
Includes a protective soft bag for storage.

Cons

May offer less ventilation than non-aero helmets, potentially leading to heat buildup during intense efforts.
The short tail design, while aerodynamic, might be less forgiving of extreme head angles than longer-tailed helmets.
Primarily designed for TT/Triathlon, may not be ideal for general road cycling.
Requires hand washing of pads, an extra maintenance step.

Setup, Compatibility & Care Instructions

Setup:

Adjust the Safe-T Orbital Fit System by turning the rear dial until the helmet fits snugly but comfortably. Use the vertical and occipital adjustment points to fine-tune the fit.
Attach the chin strap using the Fidlock magnetic buckle. Ensure it is securely fastened.
Position the MET Dual Fumè Shield. It is designed to integrate seamlessly with the helmet.

Compatibility:

This helmet is designed for adult cyclists participating in triathlon and time trial events.
Available in multiple sizes (S: 52-56cm, M: 56-58cm, L: 58-61cm). Ensure you select the correct size for optimal fit and performance.

Care:

Pads: Remove the Coolmax comfort inner pads and hand wash them with mild soap and cold water. Allow them to air dry completely before reinserting.
Shell: Clean the helmet exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the shell and graphics.
Straps: Wipe the Air Lite straps with a damp cloth. Do not machine wash.
Storage: Store the helmet in the provided soft helmet bag in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Avoid storing it near sharp objects.
