Setup, Compatibility & Care
Compatibility Verification:
Before installation, ensure your trailer is fitted with ALKO 2051 (200x50) or 2361 (230x60) brake drums. For older Ifor Williams units, confirm the manufacturing date falls between 1989 and 1992 to ensure the lever geometry matches your existing hub components.
Installation Steps:
- Safely jack up the trailer and remove the road wheel.
- Remove the brake drum to expose the shoe assembly.
- Remove the worn reverse lever, noting the orientation of the spring and split pin.
- Clean the brake backplate of debris and corrosion.
- Install the new lever using the provided bolt and ensure the new spring is seated correctly.
- Secure with a new split pin and verify the lever moves freely by hand before replacing the drum.
Maintenance Care:
Keep the pivot points of the lever lightly lubricated with a high-temperature brake grease to prevent seizure, taking care to ensure no lubricant touches the brake shoe linings or drum surface.
