Setup, Compatibility & Care
Sowing: Sow seeds directly outdoors from May to July, after the risk of frost has passed. Choose a sunny, sheltered position. Prepare the soil by digging and adding compost.
Support: As a climbing variety, 'Carminat' requires support. Install canes, netting, or a trellis system before sowing or shortly after germination to avoid disturbing the roots.
Spacing: Sow seeds about 5cm deep and 15cm apart. If sowing in rows, allow 45-60cm between rows.
Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during flowering and pod development. Water regularly, particularly during dry spells.
Soil: Prefers well-drained, fertile soil enriched with organic matter. Ensure good air circulation.
Harvesting: Begin harvesting pods when they are about 10-15cm long and feel fleshy and tender. Pick regularly to encourage further production.
