Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Clear and level the chosen site for the polytunnel.
- Assemble the galvanized steel ground tubes, ensuring they are securely placed.
- Erect the curved hoops and connect them using the provided fixings.
- Attach the polythene cover, utilizing the hoop adjustment feature to achieve maximum tension. This step is crucial for wind resistance and polythene longevity.
- Secure the polythene using the provided clamps and cast iron fixings. If doors are to be added, timber battens will be required to clamp the polythene to the door frames.
- The ground tubes can be hammered into the ground or concreted for enhanced stability, especially in exposed locations.
Compatibility:
This kit is designed to be a standalone structure. If you are not purchasing a package that includes doors, you will need to source timber to construct two doors and their frames, along with 2"x1" timber battens for securing the polythene on these doors.
Care:
- Polythene Cover: Periodically inspect the polythene for tears or damage and repair promptly. Clean the cover with mild soap and water as needed to maintain light transmission. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
- Frame: Ensure all fixings remain tight. The galvanized coating provides corrosion resistance, but occasional checks are recommended.
- Ground Stability: If the structure is hammered into the ground, check its stability after strong winds. Consider concreting the ground tubes for permanent installations in high-wind areas.
- Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation during warm weather to prevent overheating, which can stress plants and potentially degrade the polythene over time.
