FAQs

Does this primer require a hardener?

No, this is a 1K ready-to-use primer that does not require the addition of a hardener.

Can I use this over bare metal?

Yes, but for optimal long-term corrosion protection on large bare metal areas, a dedicated etch or epoxy primer is recommended first.

How long does it take to dry?

The primer is fast-drying, typically ready for sanding in 30-60 minutes depending on ambient temperature and humidity.

What grit sandpaper should I use to sand this primer?

Start with P320-P400 for initial smoothing and finish with P600-P800 before applying the topcoat.

Is it compatible with all paint types?

It is compatible with most standard automotive basecoats and topcoats, but a test patch is always recommended.

Troubleshooting

Nozzle clogging during application

Clear the nozzle by inverting the can and spraying until clear, or soak the nozzle tip in thinners.

Primer running or sagging

Apply thinner coats and increase the distance between the can and the workpiece.

Poor adhesion

Ensure the substrate was properly cleaned, degreased, and sanded prior to application.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Convenient aerosol format eliminates the need for spray equipment
  • Excellent filling capabilities for surface irregularities
  • Very fast drying time increases workshop efficiency
  • Easy to sand for a refined surface profile
  • Professional-grade adhesion on prepared substrates

Cons

  • Requires proper ventilation for safe application
  • Not suitable for large-scale panel coverage
  • Limited pot life once the seal is broken

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Before application, ensure the target surface is clean, dry, and free from grease, wax, or loose paint. Abrade the area with P180-P240 grit sandpaper for optimal mechanical keying. Shake the aerosol can vigorously for at least two minutes before use. Apply the primer in light, even coats, keeping the nozzle approximately 20-30cm from the surface. Allow sufficient flash-off time between coats. After use, invert the can and spray for a few seconds to clear the nozzle and prevent clogging. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
